An eminent cardiologist was cleared last week of tax evasion. The jury took just two hours to return a unanimous Not Guilty verdict.

Our client had been charged with cheating the public revenue and was being prosecuted by the specialist tax division of the CPS which conducts prosecutions on behalf of HMRC. Instead of negotiating a deal with our client with a view to recovering any unpaid sums of tax which were now due with penalties for late filing, the Revenue took a punitive decision to prosecute.  We were firmly of the view that this was not the right decision and that the Revenue were being unreasonable.
